Massasuasia at Band Search, Hemel Hempstead

In 1989, the Hemel Hempstead Pavilion hosted the fourth annual ‘Bandsearch’ competition, a battle of the bands event held over two days.


Massasuasia – who were Louise Harper (14), Debbie Nelson (14), Rachel Picco (14) and Tanya Dixon (14) - performed their third gig on the second day, Sunday, 12 February 1989.


The event was filmed as part of the competition with the girls singing four songs: ‘Making Me Blue’, ‘Touch Me’, ‘What Happens When Love Dies’ and ‘Chariot Of Love’.


One of the judges was Jakko Jakszyk, who was a guitarist with Level 42 and later a member of King Crimson.  


Massasuasia were awarded ‘Most Promising New Act’.
